My initial impression when I put these on was that the ear cups were a bit small for my ears and they sounded good but the base was a bit punchy / pronounced. After wearing them for awhile, I decided that although my ears touched the sides they cups are quite cushy and surprisingly comfortable. I can wear these for hours without discomfort. I also decided that I liked the sound and wore them for several hours enjoying music and listening to a podcast that day.
I’m going to compare the sound and ANC quality to several other headphones / earbuds that I own – Bose QC II earbuds, TOZO Golden X1 earbuds and Sennheiser Momentum 3 headphones.
I had no problem getting them paired to my phone and connected in the TOZO app. On first connection to the app, it found a firmware update and that got installed with out issue. This is what I expect but there are other products (notably the Bose QC IIs) that bluetooth and app connections can be an issue.
The controls are intuitive and easy to use. I’ve found this to be true with all of the TOZO products that I’ve tried.
Sound quality: I like listening to them. The highs are crips and the base is punchy with out being muddy. I notice that compared to my Sennheiser’s especially, the HT2s sound a but closed in – the Sennheiser’s and the Bose both feel more expansive – have a wider soundstage. The HT2s have a wider soundstage than the Golden X1s tho. This is kinda expected tho – both the QC II and the Momentum 3’s cost 5-6 times more than the HT2s. Excellent sound for the price.
ANC: I found the HT2’s ANC to be just OK. They perform similarly to my Momentum 3’s. I tested using fan noise – a bathroom fan as well as a speaker playing music. The QC IIs are the gold standard here – they almost completely blocked out the fan noise as well as the music. The Momentum 3s and the HT2s blocked maybe 1/2 of the fan noise. I noticed that they both blocked almost all of the lower frequency fan noise but let thru the higher frequencies. The performance using music was similar – again lower frequencies were attenuated more than high ones. The Golden X1s ANC was marginally worse in both categories although similar. Bose generally wins this contest.
Pass thru mode: Again the Bose performed the best but I was quite happy with the pass thru mode for the HT2s. I could easily carry on a conversation in pass thru mode without taking them off of my head.
Similar to music, the HT2s were very similar to the Momentum 3’s and slightly better than the Golden X1s.
Bottom line – these are definitely worth the asking price. Good sound, comfortable, OK ANC and good pass thru mode.
